The Great Daneeb
It's another perfect night for a sail
As the azure twilight sky begins to blush
And the waters mist the decks with a rush
It's another night on the great Daneeb
And the colors gather round o'er the deep sea
Golden violet green in a sweeping brush
Your imagination thrills at the touch
And it's another painted night on the great Daneeb
A glance over the bow reveals the world
You'd reach for it if you were still a little boy or girl
But of that distant shore you've learned too much
And it's another empty night on the great Daneeb
You wanted to sail among the stars
But now you see, these waters aren't ours
We give them names and stories
But it's the stars that give
The stars their glory
A flash of light, the mast tumbles down
And with it all the constellations crushed
You stay afloat on driftwood tightly clutched
As below the silver foam slips the great Daneeb
It's been so long since this began
And still you spend time searching for a crutch
Well strong arms can't always be there to whisper "hush,"
And it's about time you let go of the great Daneeb.
